Wild Mountain has become the first area in the Midwest to open for the season.

It's going to be rather thin for a while--one bunny slope that is rope-served, if I recall correctly. But it's a good sign.

Here's an e-mail from WM:


Today, Wednesday, November 7th we are officially starting the Ski/Snowboard Season in MN! Keeping with our 32 year tradition Wild Mountain is the first Area to open in the Midwest.

We will be opening today with one run Expressway an intermediate run and 1 chairlift

We are excited to start the season and to see you all soon!

Hours of Operation
Wednesday, November 7th TBD - We are going to continue to blow as long as we can, and then we need to groom. Please call for more details as the sun comes up.

Thursday, November 8th 4pm - 9pm
Friday, November 9th Noon - 9pm
Saturday, November 10th 9:30am - 9pm
Sunday, November 11th 9:30am - 8pm

Lift tickets for today, November 7th will be $16

Rates will change daily as we add more runs
Hours of Operation may also change. Please check web site daily for updates.

I would contest their claim of first to open....several places in the UP opened last weekend, and last I checked they are in the Midwest as well...

Either way, this is good news :)

Just bought our season passes today for Mad River Mountain.

Let's hope it's a long and snowy one.
