An exercise to help with getting up on heel edge..

So here is a question for the group: I am looking for an exercise that will help to prepare me to stand up on my heel edge after a fall. For years when I have fallen I have managed to flip on to my toe edge side, dig in and then try and get up.

This is exhausting.

I would last longer if I could manage to train my body to get up from the heel side. I have been looking for ages for something and my trainer at the Y doesn't really have any specific ideas (though he is still looking).

Any thoughts?

Sit-ups and squats. Anything you can do to build up your body core is ideal. Stretching out every day is also recommended. Join your local CrossFit gym and that will get you in shape to ride at any age.

I'd vote for planks - right side, left side, front. I read somewhere that being good at planks means you can hold them for 2 minutes. I've just reached 65 seconds.
