Riding With My Work Buddies

Postby welshscarry » Thu Jan 10, 2008 12:45 pm

I spent a day at Telluride riding in deep powder with 3 friends from work.
All skiers:
one guy age 61, one lady, my boss, age 50, and another lady, age 73.
I go with the guy a lot, the other two I don't think had ever ridden the lift or skied with a boarder.

At the beginning of the day, they all rode a little faster than me to the bottom. (I was warming up!)

By the end of the day, I was way ahead of the two ladies and even with the guy. Seems the running and going to the gym for elliptical and core work is starting to pay off.

The 73 yr old was interested in the board and asked a lot of questions.
Maybe we have a new convert.

Hey, you never know. I was reading the latest issue of a magazine for snowboard instructors and one guy said that he once taught an 80-year old guy how to ride.

It sounds like it took then a few weeks, but they got it done.

Did you tell the lady that skiing is easier on the knees?
