Poll: Dominant hand, Lead Foot

Postby Rod Smith » Mon Apr 09, 2007 7:33 am

I believe right handed folks tend to have developed better balance on their left foot, and lefties balance better on their right foot. Not that it matters, but I thought this poll might test this theory.

Yep, me too.

(I'm wondering if we've talked about this before. If anyone comes across a similar thread, let me know.)

7 of the 9 respondents have confirmed my belief that southpaws will be more comfortable riding right foot forward, and vice versa. When I started out riding, we were taught to weight the front foot and kick the rear foot back and forth to make turns. Modern technique encourages more equal weight on both feet and pressuring heel or toe edge to turn, but I think most will prefer having the foot they can balance on better in front.

Right-handers riding goofy, such as yourself are just trying to be different. Haha, just kidding. You may be cross-dominate, ie. right-handed and left-footed.

Right handed goofy.

When i tried that slide-across-the-kitchen-floor-in-your-socks trick during my first year on a board, I simply COULD NOT do it left foot in front.
